Brunswick Tram Depot Precinct Upgrade
March 2024 - December 2026
The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and Yarra Trams are upgrading the Brunswick Tram Depot to support the addition of larger trams to the fleet, additional trams in the depot and provide improved accessibility and safety.
Brunswick Tram Depot administration building upgrade and refurbishment
Works to demolish part of the existing administration building are now complete. Works are now underway to upgrade and refurbish the existing depot building. The external white facade facing Sydney Road will be retained.
When?
– Ongoing 7am to 4pm, February 2025 (Monday to Friday only).
– The upgraded and refurbished depot administration building is expected to be complete early 2026.
New substation as part of the Brunswick Tram Depot Upgrade
As part of the project, we are building a new tram substation near the rail corridor on Cameron Street.
This will support the upgraded facility and the increased capacity of the future tram fleet. The substation will be built in four stages and is on track to be finished on mid to late 2026.
When?
Ongoing:
– 7am to 5pm,Monday to Friday.
– 7am to 3pm, Saturday.
For any work outside of these hours, we will provide advance notification.
