Brunswick Tram Depot Precinct Upgrade

March 2024 - December 2026

The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) and Yarra Trams are upgrading the Brunswick Tram Depot to support the addition of larger trams to the fleet, additional trams in the depot and provide improved accessibility and safety.

Upcoming night works on Moreland and Sydney Road

we are conducting site investigations and need to close sections of Sydney Road and Moreland Road at night.

Moreland Road
- On Sunday 10 May, from 9.30pm to 5am, Moreland Road will be closed in both directions between Cameron Street and Sydney Road.

- A signed detour will be in place via Bell Street, Melville Road, Brunswick Road, Sydney Road and Nicholson Street.

Sydney Road
- From Monday 11 May to Thursday 14 May from 9.30pm to 5am, Sydney Road will be closed in both directions between Albion Street and Davies Street.

– During works, the intersection of Albion Street and Sydney Road will be closed and the
intersection of Davies Street and Sydney Road will be open.

– A signed detour will be in place via Moreland Road, Melville Road, Brunswick Road and Nicholson Street.

Pedestrian access will be maintained during both sets of works and businesses remain open. We encourage you to continue to support local during these essential works.

New substation as part of the Brunswick Tram Depot Upgrade

As part of the project, we are building a new tram substation near the rail corridor on Cameron Street.

This will support the upgraded facility and the increased capacity of the future tram fleet. The substation will be built in four stages and is on track to be finished on mid to late 2026.

When?

Ongoing:

– 7am to 5pm,Monday to Friday.
– 7am to 3pm, Saturday.

For any work outside of these hours, we will provide advance notification.
