Union Road and Epsom Road works

What's happening?

We’re renewing the tram tracks and making safety upgrades along Epsom and Union roads in Ascot Vale.

We’re also building a new level-access platform stop at Stop 33 Melbourne Showgrounds on Union Road to improve accessibility for passengers and prepare for the introduction of G Class trams. Stop 34 Burrowes St will be removed. 

Tram service changes

First tram Saturday 15 November to last tram Sunday 30 November

Route 57 trams run between Stop 1 Flinders Street Station and Stop 30 Flemington Racecourse.

Buses replace trams on Route 57 between Stop 31 Racing Victoria and West Maribyrnong diverting around the work zone via Ascot Vale and Maribyrnong roads.

Tram replacement buses

 The following stops will not be serviced by tram replacement buses:

• Stop 30 Flemington Racecourse
• Stop 33 Melbourne Showgrounds
• Stop 34 Burrowes St & Union Rd
• Stop 35 Munro St & Union Rd
• Stop 36 St Leonards Rd & Union Rd

Buses will service kerbside tram stops along Route 57. Follow orange signage for directions to the temporary bus stops.

Trams and buses run to the normal frequency during the works and are low-floor accessible depending on availability.

During the disruption, passengers can track tram replacement buses using Busminder.

Accessibility 

Travellers Aid is running the new Yarra Trams My Tramsfer accessible minibus to assist passengers with disability and accessibility needs around the neighborhood, including access to and from the Showgrounds Shopping Centre.

When does the service operate?
Saturday 15 November to Sunday 30 November, 6am and 9pm each day. 

How long will the journey take?
A round-trip journey may take up to 30 minutes, subject to traffic conditions around the work zone.

10. 99 Maribyrnong Road (for Tram Stop 37 Union Rd)

A Wheelchair transfer is available 8am to 6pm each day between Stop 30 Flemington Racecourse and Stop 31 Racing Victoria.
