Tram Stop Changes
Friday 17 December to Monday 31 January 2022
We’re upgrading Melbourne’s tram network to meet Melbourne’s future transport needs.
As part of a new tram timetable, some tram stops will be closed and removed to improve safety, accessibility and journey times.
What are the changes?
We are removing stops at eight locations.
Why are we removing tram stops?
We are removing tram stops to improve safety.
Some stops are also very close to others and removing them will improve travel times for passengers.
Which stops will change?
Route 1 & 6
- Stop 119 Park St/Lygon St
Route 19
- Stop 18 Princes Park & Royal Parade
Route 48
- Stop 45 Burke Rd & Doncaster Rd (citybound only)
Route 57
- Stop 18 Erskine St & Abbottsford St
- Stop 13 Burrowes St & Union Rd
Route 64
- Stop 41 Cantala Ave & Dandenong Rd
Route 72
- Stop 60 Campbell Rd & Burke Rd
Route 82
- Stop 36 Bayview Terrace & Maribyrnong Rd
How do I find my nearby tram stop?
Information will be available at each tram stop directing passengers to the nearest available tram stop. A QR code will also be available that links to the online project webpage.
When will the works happen?
The closures are aligned with the new tram timetable, which will begin on December 19. The stops will no longer be in use from midnight on December 18.
Works to physically remove the stops will commence in the new year.
These works may have some short-term impacts, including traffic changes and noise.
We will work closely with the community to provide notice of works.

How will this work benefit tram users?
We expect that future Melbourne will have more people using trams than ever before. Upgrading our network is essential to ensure we provide an accessible service to all passengers.
