Disruption to city trams - Sunday 11 January

Services resuming

Route 1, 5, 6, 16 and 72 trams have resumed along their normal lines following an earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore the timetable.

Planned service changes from 12pm to 3pm

  • No Route 3, 64 and 67 trams run between Stop 20 Anzac Station and Melbourne University. Trams divert from Stop 20 Anzac Station via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street to Stop 7 Flagstaff Station.

Reason for changes

Due to a rally in the city.

Service Changes

Swanston Street

  • No Route 1 and 6 trams run between Stop 11 Collins St and Stop 7 RMIT University.
  • No Route 5, 16 and 72 trams run between Stop 11 Collins St and Melbourne University.
  • Expected impact to services: over 1 hour.

Planned service changes from 12pm to 3pm

  • No Route 3, 64 and 67 trams run between Stop 20 Anzac Station and Melbourne University. Trams divert from Stop 20 Anzac Station via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street to Stop 7 Flagstaff Station.

Alternative travel

  • Metro Tunnel trains between Town Hall and Parkville stations.

This disruption is expected to take some time to clear. Plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.

Tram service changes

Planned service changes from 12pm to 3pm

  • No Route 3, 64 and 67 trams run between Stop 20 Anzac Station and Melbourne University. Trams divert from Stop 20 Anzac Station via Park Street, Kings Way and William Street to Stop 7 Flagstaff Station.

When Swanston Street is affected

  • No Route 1 and Route 6 trams run between Stop 11 Collins St and Stop 7 RMIT University 
  • No Route 5, 16 and 72 trams run between Stop 11 Collins St and Melbourne University.

When La Trobe Street is affected

  • No Route 30 trams run. Use diverting Route 86a and Route 96a trams on La Trobe Street between Spencer Street and Melbourne Museum as an alternative.
  • Route 35 (City Circle) trams run between Docklands and Stop 4 Flinders Station St via Harbor Esplanade and Flinders Street.

When Bourke Street is affected

  • Route 86 trams divert via La Trobe Street between Stop D1 Docklands Stadium and Stop 11 Melbourne Museum.
  • Route 96 trams divert via La Trobe Street between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Stop 11 Melbourne Museum.
  • Limited shuttle services run as Route 86a between Stop 4 Queen St and Central Pier, Docklands.
