Reason for service changes
We’re delivering level-access tram stops along La Trobe Street to make your journey more accessible, reliable and safe. The first stage of works includes upgrading Stop D1 Stadium Precinct, Stop 3 Flagstaff Station and Stop 5 Melbourne Central Station, Elizabeth Street.
Service changes
- Route 30 trams run a shortened service between St Vincent’s Plaza and Stop 5 Melbourne Central Station, Elizabeth Street.
- Route 35 trams (City Circle) run in both directions between Waterfront City Docklands and Stop 5 Melbourne Central Station, Elizabeth Street.
- Route 86 trams run a shortened service between Bundoora RMIT and Stop 119 La Trobe Street.
Tram stop changes
The following tram stops are closed during the works:
- Stop 4 Queen Street
- Stop 3 Flagstaff Station
- Stop 2 King Street
- Stop 1 & 119 Spencer Street
- Stop D1 Stadium Precinct
Marvel Stadium Events
Customers exiting Marvel Stadium via La Trobe Street can walk along La Trobe Street towards Spencer Street and connect at Stop 120 Lonsdale Street with Route 86 trams to Bundoora RMIT, up to 700m / 10min walk.
Alternative travel options
Towards Waterfront City Docklands
- Route 35, 70 or 75 trams along Flinders Street and Harbour Esplanade.
- Route 11 or 48 trams along Collins Street, then change to trams on Harbour Esplanade.
- Use trams along Swanston, Elizabeth or William streets to connect to trams on Flinders or Collins streets.
Towards St Vincent’s Plaza
- Route 11, 12 or 109 trams along Collins Street.
- Local buses 905, 906 and 907 on Lonsdale Street.
Pedestrians can walk along the La Trobe Street work zone, refer to signage in the area.
Accessibility
Travellers Aid will be operating an accessible minibus service every 30 minutes during the works.
This service is available free-of-charge for passengers with accessibility needs to get between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station, Bourke Street and Waterfront City Docklands.
Minibus hours:
Monday to Friday: 7am to 7pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 7pm
The following stop locations will be serviced:
- A- Stop 1 Southern Cross Station, Bourke Street, corner of Bourke and Spencer Street, near Mail Exchange Hotel.
- B- At 681 Collins Street, close to Stop 1 Southern Cross Station, Collins Street
- C- At 141 Capital City Trail / The Harbour Esplanade
- D- Stop D11 on Docklands Drive, towards city
