Melbourne's tram fleet consists of 520 trams across 9 classes, operating the world's largest tram network on 250km of double track.

Overview: Melbourne's tram fleet includes more than 480 trams, 9 tram classes, 250km of double track, 9 depots and 23 routes plus City Circle, including:
  • 12 W8-Class trams, numbered T856-T1020, which were introduced in 1951-56 and refurbished 2013-18, they run on Route 35, have capacity for 75 passengers and have heritage features.
  • 87 Z-Class trams, numbered  T116-T230, which were introduced in 1975-84. They mainly run on Routes 1, 3, 5, 6, 16, 57, 58, 64, 67 (Night Network), 73, and 82 and have capacity for 70 passengers.
  • 69 A-Class trams, numbered T232-T300, which were introduced in 1988-94. They mainly run on Routes 12, 48, 64, 70 and 78 and have capacity for 65 passengers.
  • 130 B-Class trams, numbered T2003-T2132, which were introduced 1988-94. They mainly run on Routes 1, 3, 6, 19 (Night Network), 58, 59, 64, 67 (Night Network) and 75 (Night Network). They have capacity for 120 passengers and feature air conditioning.
  • 36 C1-Class trams, numbered T3001-T3036, which were introduced 2001-02. They mainly run on Routes 48 and 109 (Night Network), with capacity for 120 passengers, and feature accessible low floors and air conditioning.
  • 5 C2-Class trams, numbered T5103, T5106, T5111, T5113 and T5123, which were introduced in 2008. They mainly run on Route 96 (Night Network), have capacity for 180 passengers and feature accessible low floors and air conditioning.
  • 38 D1-Class trams numbered T3501-T3538, which were introduced from 2002-04. They mainly run on Routes 5, 6, 16, 58 and 72, have capacity for 90 passengers and feature accessible low floors and air conditioning.
  • 21 D2-Class trams numbered T5001-T5021, which were introduced in 2004. They mainly run on Routes 6 and 19 (Night Network), have capacity for 140 passengers and feature accessible low floors and air conditioning.
  • 100 E-Class trams numbered T6001-T6100, which were introduced in 2013-21. They mainly run on Routes 11, 30, 58, 86 (Night Network) and 96 (Night Network). They have capacity for 180 passengers and feature accessible low floors and air conditioning.
