Getting to the Grand Prix

Grand Prix Gate 1, 2 and 3 departing from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station in Spencer Street

  • Extra trams run express between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 1 and 2
  • Extra trams run express between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3
  • Route 96 replacement buses run between a temporary bus stop in Spencer Street near Collins Street via Grand Prix Gate 1 and 2

Grand Prix Gate 5, 8, 9 and 10, departing from Swanston and Flinders streets and St Kilda Road

  • Extra trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 32 Chapel Street via Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Friday 14 March to Sunday 16 March, 5am to 10pm each day

  • Extra trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Luna Park stopping at Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10

Grand Prix shuttle bus runs express from Whiteman Street via Grand Prix Gate 1, 2 and 3

  • Friday 14 March from 7.30am to 12pm and 4pm to 8.30pm
  • Saturday 15 March from 7.30am to 12pm and 4pm to 8.30pm
  • Sunday 16 March from 7.30am to 12pm and 3.30pm to 8pm

Tram travel to and from the Grand Prix is free for ticket holders and only valid on the day of admission.

Route 86 trams run between Bundoora RMIT and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station in Bourke Street

  • No Route 86 trams run between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station in Bourke Street and Waterfront City Docklands

Route 96 trams run between East Brunswick and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station in Bourke Street

  • Buses replace Route 96 trams between a temporary bus stop in Spencer Street near Collins Street and Stop 138 Luna Park via Grand Prix Gates 1 and 2

Route 11, 58, 86, 96 and 109 trams run at an 8-minute frequency during peak periods

Route 3 trams run between East Malvern and Stop 138 Luna Park

Route 5 trams run between Malvern and
Stop 30 St Kilda Junction (first tram to 3pm and 7pm to 10pm)

  • Buses replace Route 5 trams between Stop 38 Orrong Rd and
    Stop 30 St Kilda Junction (3pm to 7pm)
  • Route 5 passengers requiring an accessible stop can connect at Stop 32 Chapel Street.

Route 16 trams run between Kew and Stop 138 Luna Park

Route 64 trams run between East Brighton and Stop 38 Orrong Rd,
connect with Route 5 services to the city

No Route 1 trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 17 Arts Precinct / Sturt St

No Route 6 trams run between temporary stop in High Street at St Kilda Road and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station

Route 72 trams run between Camberwell and a temporary stop in Commercial Road at St Kilda Road

5am to 10pm
Route 12 and Route 109 trams run express between Stop 1 Southern Cross Station in Collins Street and Stop 126 City Road (Route 12) / Stop 125A Southbank Tram Depot (Route 109)

Stop 124A Batman Park, Stop 124 Casino / MCEC and Stop 125 Clarendon Street Junction will not be serviced

11am to 3pm 
Route 35 (City Circle) trams run between Waterfront City Docklands and Stop 1 Spencer Street / La Trobe Street via Harbour Esplanade, Flinders and Spring streets. City Circle trams service both directions during this time.

For a taxi service between closed stops during service changes passengers can call PTV on 1800 800 007 or speak to a customer service employee.

Passengers using a mobility aid can access Grand Prix Gate 1 at Stop 130 Middle Park using Route 96a Grand Prix Shuttle Trams departing from Stop 122 Southern Cross Station

Replacement buses run to a normal frequency and are low-floor accessible depending on availability.
There may be delays due to traffic congestion in the event area.
