Getting to the Grand Prix

Gates 1, 2 and 3 - Spencer Street extra tram services

  • Extra trams run express between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gates 1 and 2
  • Extra trams run express between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station and Gate 3 
  • Route 96a replacement buses run between a temporary stop opposite Southern Cross Station on Collins Street
    via Grand Prix
    Gates 1 & 2 (5am to 10pm each day)

Gates 5, 8, 9 and 10 - Swanston Street and St Kilda Road extra tram services

  • Extra trams run between Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station and Stop 138 Luna Park / Stop 32 Chapel Street
    via Swanston Street and St Kilda Road stopping at Gates 5, 8, 9 & 10

Friday 22 March to Sunday 24 March

Gate 1, 2 and 3 - Spencer Street shuttle bus service

Grand Prix shuttle buses run express between a temporary stop in Whiteman Street near Crown Casino: 

  • Friday 22 March from 8am to 1pm & 3pm to 7pm
  • Saturday 23 March from 8am to 1pm & 4pm to 8pm
  • Sunday 24 March from 7.30am to 1pm & 4pm to 8pm

Tram travel to and from the Grand Prix is free for ticket holders and only valid on the day of admission.

Trams run to a higher than usual frequency.

We encourage you to plan your journey and allow extra travel time.

Tram service changes

Wednesday 20 March to Sunday 24 March 

Route 30 & Route 35 (City Circle) trams will not run.

  • Trams to the Melbourne International Flower & Garden Show run as an altered Route 30a service between Stop 4 Flinders Street Station / Elizabeth Street to Waterfront City Docklands / Stop 1 Spencer Street via Spring and La Trobe streets.

Thursday 21 March to Sunday 24 March 

First to last tram

  • Buses replace Route 82 trams from Moonee Ponds to Footscray.

5am to 10pm 

  • Buses replace Route 86 trams between Bundoora RMIT and Stop 24 Michael Street / Queens Parade
  • Route 86 runs a shortened service between Stop 25 Clifton Hill Interchange and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station (no trams run in Docklands during this time)
  • Route 96 runs a shortened service between East Brunswick and Stop 1 Southern Cross Station.
  • Buses replace Route 96 trams between Stop 122 Southern Cross Station, Collins Street and Stop 138 Luna Park via Grand Prix Gates 1 and 2

Friday 22 March to Sunday 24 March, first tram to 10pm

  • Route 3 runs between East Malvern and Stop 138 Luna Park
  • Route 5 runs between Malvern and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction (first tram to 4pm and 8pm to 10pm)
  • Buses replace Route 5 trams between Stop 38 Orrong Road and Stop 14 Arts Precinct via Punt Road (4pm to 8pm)
  • Route 16 runs between Kew and Stop 138 Luna Park
  • Route 64 runs between East Brighton and Stop 38 Orrong Road
  • Route 67 runs between Carnegie and Stop 30 St Kilda Junction

Saturday 23 March to Sunday 24 March

First to last tram

  • Route 48 runs between North Balwyn and Stop 7 101 Collins Street
  • Route 58 runs a shortened service between West Coburg and Stop 116 City Road
  • Buses replace Route 58 trams between Stop 115 Casino / Southbank and Toorak

First tram to 10pm

  • Route 1 runs in sections with no trams between Stop 17 Sturt Street and Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
  • Route 6 runs in sections with no trams between a temporary stop in High Street at St Kilda Road and
    Stop 8 Melbourne Central Station
  • Route 72 runs a shortened service between Camberwell and a temporary stop in Commercial Road at St Kilda Road

5.30am to 10pm

  • Route 12 and Route 109 run express between Southern Cross Station and City Road / Southbank Depot
