Public holidays: Christmas season 2020

Service changes
During the 2020/21 holiday season, timetable changes apply to all tram routes.
Friday 25 December 2020 – Christmas Day Public Holiday
- Trams run to a Sunday frequency, and Night Network services run as normal. City Circle trams won’t run. Metropolitan and regional public transport will be free from 3am on Christmas Day 25 December until 3am on 26 December Boxing Day.
Monday 28 December 2020 – Boxing Day Public Holiday
- Trams run to a Saturday frequency with the last tram an hour earlier than the normal timetabled service. Night Network services won’t run.
Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 December 2020
- Trams run to a Saturday frequency with the last tram an hour earlier than the normal timetabled service. Night Network services won’t run.
Thursday 31 December 2020 – New Year’s Eve
- Trams run to a Saturday frequency with most routes running all night.
- All train, tram and bus services will be free from 6pm on New Year’s Eve 31 December until 6am on New Year’s Day 1 January.
- New Year’s Eve festivities will be different this year without any fireworks. Melburnians are encouraged to plan ahead and pre-book venues before travelling to the CBD.
- A Saturday timetable will run until midnight, with limited additional services running after midnight. Trams run to a 15-20-minute frequency between midnight and 2am and every 60-minutes from 2am.
Friday 1 January 2021 – New Year’s Day Public Holiday
- Trams run to a Saturday frequency and Night Network services run as normal.
