What’s happening?

We’re upgrading the Brunswick Tram Depot to support the addition of larger trams to the fleet and in the depot, as well as provide improved accessibility and safety.

Tram service changes

Route 19
First tram Friday 21 August to last tram Thursday 3 September.

Route 19 trams run between Flinders Street Station and Stop 19 Brunswick Rd.

Buses replace trams on Route 19 between Stop 19 Brunswick Rd and North Coburg, diverting around the work zone via Mitchell Street, Holmes Street and Moreland Road.

Route 6
First tram Friday 21 August to last tram Sunday 4 October.

Route 6 trams run between Glen Iris and Stop 129 Moreland Road.

Until Thursday 3 September, passengers may use tram replacement buses along Moreland Road to Sydney Road.

Then from Friday 4 September, passengers may use shuttle buses on Moreland Road between Nicholson Street and Moreland Station. Shuttle buses run from 7am to 9pm each day at a 30-minute frequency.

Route 1 and Route 6 trams will run to a 10-minute frequency during peak times, 7am to 10am and 2pm to 7pm.

Route 58
First tram Friday 21 August to last tram Monday 5 October.

Route 58 trams run between Toorak and Stop 11 Queensberry St on Peel Street.

Buses replace trams on Route 58 between Stop 11 Queensberry St on Peel Street and West Coburg, diverting around Royal Park.

During the works Route 1, 6 and 19 will operate from Royal Park.

Tram replacement buses

Tram replacement buses will service existing tram stops, local and temporary bus stops. Follow at stop signage information to find your nearest alternative stop.

Alternative travel

Upfield Line trains between the suburbs and the city.

Route 59 and Route 19 trams on Elizabeth St for travel between the city and the hospital precinct.

Accessibility

Tram replacement buses are low floor, where possible, and run to a normal frequency, unless specified, there may be delays due to congestion around the works area.
