Thanks for your patience! Batman Park / Flinders Street stop now open

Monday 12 January 2015

Yarra Trams thanks the community and particularly our passengers for their patience during the construction of a new accessible tram stop at Batman Park / Flinders Street.

The stop reopened in time for the first tram this morning and is now serving passengers on Routes 12, 96 and 109. In addition to easier access to low-floor trams, the stop improves safety, customer information and the customer experience while waiting for a tram.

While the new stop is the most noticeable upgrade, we also took the opportunity to renew the tram track crossing at the intersection of Flinders Street and Spencer Street, upgrade the power supply on Spencer Street, improve the accessibility of Stop 1 Spencer Street on Flinders Street and repair the tram tracks at the intersection of Clarendon and Whiteman streets.

We recognise that the construction of this accessible tram stop changes people's journey for 10 days and appreciate their patience. We hope that passengers agree that the final product is a safer, more accessible and more customer-friendly tram stop.

Route 96 is already fully serviced by low-floor trams and it is essential for all passengers that every stop on the route provides level access to the tram.
