Swan Street/Wallen Road tram works - 3 to 9 January 2017

Friday 16 December 2016

As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria are renewing tram tracks and on Wallen Road in Hawthorn. Major works will take place across the Wallen Road bridge between Morang Road and Yarra Boulevard.

Tram tracks across the Wallen Road bridge are 79 years old and require renewing. The renewed track will deliver a better road surface for motorists, cyclists and tram passengers, produce less tram noise due to potholes, broken rails and wheel squealing, and will be quicker to repair in the future due to the use of new semi resilient materials.
