Route 86 will be next to run E-Class!
Friday 15 April 2016
Route 86, one of the busiest routes on Melbourne's tram network, will run E-Class trams from November 2016.
The next generation E-Class trams are the biggest in the fleet with capacity to carry 210 passengers and help to enable more than 192 million passenger trips a year on Melbourne's trams.
Made in Melbourne, for Melbourne, these trams provide better accessibility and comfort for passengers, with state-of-the-art audio and visual passenger information, air-conditioning, improved safety features and dedicated spaces for passengers with mobility aids or prams.
There are currently 34 E-Class trams on the network, with a further 36 ordered to arrive by 2018. As the city's population continues to grow, the continued introduction of E-Class trams onto the network will help to keep Melbourne moving.
E-Class trams already operate on Routes 11 and 96, with high-capacity trams that previously ran on these routes moving to other parts of the network.
