Improving passenger access to the AO

19 Jan 2022

The iconic Australian Open started this week and Yarra Trams will be working hard to get the fans to Melbourne Park throughout the tournament and deliver a great passenger experience. We are proud that our service supports our city’s status as the major events capital of Australia.

Our chief executive Julien Dehornoy recently joined Australian tennis ace and Paralympic gold medallist Heath Davidson and Traveller’s Aid CEO Elias Lebbos at Melbourne Park to launch our expanded partnership with Traveller's Aid Australia and Tennis Australia which supports passengers living with disabilities or experiencing mobility challenges travel by tram to Australian Open 2022.

Some of the fans travelling to see tennis’ biggest stars compete may need assistance getting to-and-from the event, so it was natural for us to scale up our partnership to ensure every journey for every one of our passengers is a Grand Slam. The program will provide access support for our passengers, as well as more direct transport support on motorised buggies and electric bikes.
