Harbour Esplanade closed from 13 - 19 November as part of Docklands redevelopment

As part of VicUrban's continuing Harbour Esplanade redevelopment, Yarra Trams will be doing tram improvement works in the Docklands precinct during November.

VicUrban's Harbour Esplanade redevelopment will ultimately see this important public space transformed into a new harbourside park for Melbourne.

This phase of the project will involve tram works on Harbour Esplanade between La Trobe Street and Bourke Street from Saturday 13 to Friday 19 November 2010.

Tram Service Changes:

  • City Circle trams will operate via Spencer St. They will not service the Docklands precinct.
  • Route 30 will terminate at Stop 1 La Trobe and Spencer Street
  • Route 70 will terminate at Stop D6 Flinders Street West (corner Flinders Street and Spencer Street)
  • Route 75 will operate on an altered route, terminating at Stop D6 Flinders Street West
  • Route 86 will terminate at Stop 119 La Trobe and Spencer Street
  • Route 31 and 48 will operate as normal

A shuttle bus will operate in the Docklands precinct during these times. It will travel on Docklands Drive, Wurundjeri Way, Batman's Hill Drive, Flinders Street, Spencer Street, Dudley Street, Footscray Road and Waterfront Way.

The bus will stop in the vicinity of;

  • Docklands Drive and Waterfront Way
  • Batman's Hill and Flinders Street
  • Flinders Street West
  • Southern Cross Station
  • Spencer Street and La Trobe Street

Road Closures for the duration of the works unless otherwise stated:

  • Harbour Esplanade closed between Collins Street and Dudley Street (local access only via Dudley Street to Comtechport)
  • La Trobe Street closed between Spencer Street and Harbour Esplanade (local access only via Spencer Street)
  • Bourke Street intersection closed from east of Harbour Esplanade until midday on Wednesday 17 November. Access to Bourke Street west of Harbour Esplanade is via Collins Street and Merchant Street during this period.
