Free travel on public transport - Friday 30 July 2010
Thursday 29 July 2010
29 July 2010
Travel on all public transport services in Zones 1 and 2 will be free on Friday 30 July 2010 due to Tuesday's train power outage that caused widespread disruptions for people travelling to work and school.
No tickets will be required to travel on tram, train or bus.
Customers should not validate Metcards or touch on with myki from first to last service on Friday, including NightRider services until 3am.
Customers with Weekly, Monthly and Yearly tickets who normally use train services, and who were impacted by service disruptions on Tuesday 27 July 2010, can apply for compensation from Metro.
Weekly ticket holders who are not normally eligible can also apply for compensation.
The free travel offer on Friday does not apply to V/Line services (except those in Zone 2). Instead, V/Line customers who had a ticket valid on Tuesday 27 July will be able to claim a free return equivalent ticket by writing to V/Line (details on the V/Line website or at staffed V/Line stations).
