Extra Free Tram Zone information added to tramTRACKER®

Monday 19 January 2015

Tram passengers using the free tramTRACKER® app on iPhone or Android devices can now easily see which tram stops are within the Free Tram Zone after an update was released over the weekend.

Tram travel is free within Melbourne's CBD and Docklands:

  • Passengers whose entire trip is within the Free Tram Zone don't need to touch on their myki.
  • Passengers whose trip starts or ends outside the Free Tram Zone needs to touch on as normal.

What's changed?

The updates to the app provide:

  • A Free Tram Zone information screen that will show on first load after app install / update
  • One-time download of the network map effective January 1 2015, highlighting the Free Tram Zone
  • Updates to the Nearby, Favourite and myTRAM views
  • Indication of Free Tram Zone stops on maps and tram arrival screens
  • Link to more information at ptv.vic.gov.au

Information about the Free Tram Zone is also available via onboard brochures, tram hangers, network maps, route maps, tram shelter decals, tram stop signage, passenger information displays, onboard announcements, myki Visitor Pack, Yarra Trams and PTV customer service employees, Yarra Trams and PTV websites, PTV journey planner, social media and the PTV call centre (1800 800 007, 6am - midnight).
