Routes 1 & 6 - Tram improvement work - Saturday 28 October to Sunday 5 November
Saturday 28 October to Monday 6 November 2017
Service changes will apply on Routes 1 & 6 from first tram Saturday 28 October to last tram Sunday 5 November, due to tram improvement work on Nicholson Street & Moreland Road in Coburg & Brunswick.
Route 1 & 6 trams will operate as Route 1a & 6a, with buses replacing trams between a temporary tram stop on Holmes St (north of Stop 127 Albion St, in front of McDonald's Brunswick East) & East Coburg/Moreland, diverting around the work zone.
Tram replacement buses to East Coburg/Moreland will depart from the Holmes St temporary tram stop (north of Stop 127 Albion St, in front of McDonald's Brunswick East).
PLEASE NOTE: Service changes will differ first tram until 6.30am Saturday 28 October, with buses replacing trams between Stop 120 Brunswick Rd & East Coburg/Moreland.
Tram stop changes
The following stops will not be serviced by replacement buses; listed with their closest alternative stops, including walking distances around the work zone:
Stop 128 Mitchell St
Route 1 & 6: use Holmes St temp stop (Up to 300m / 4 min walk)
Stop 129 Moreland Rd
- To City: trams from Holmes St temp stop (Up to 800m / 10 min walk)
- To East Coburg: buses from Stop 131 Rennie St (Up to 850m / 10 min walk)
- To Moreland: buses from Stop 130 Barrow St (Up to 450m / 5 min walk)
Stop 130 The Avenue
Route 1: use Stop 131 Rennie St (Up to 250m / 3 min walk).
Alternative travel options
Passengers may wish to consider Route 19 trams via Sydney Rd, Upfield line trains and local bus services as alternative travel options.
Replacement buses will be low floor depending on availability. Passengers may wish to talk to our Customer Service staff if they need assistance.
During the work, trams & replacement buses will operate to the normal frequency, however they may not arrive at the scheduled time. We suggest you allow extra time for your journey.
