Disruption to City trams

Date and time:

Tuesday 23 October, 10am to 12pm.

Update 1.22pm

Bourke St corridor

  • Bourke St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Collins St corridor

  • Collins St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Swanston St corridor

  • Swanston St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Flinders St corridor

  • Flinders St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

City Circle

  • Route 30 and City Circle trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency.

Bourke St corridor

  • Bourke St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Collins St corridor

  • Collins St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Swanston St corridor

  • Swanston St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Flinders St corridor

  • Flinders St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

City Circle

  • No Route 30 & City Circle trams running
  • We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. 

Update 12.08pm

Bourke St corridor

  • Bourke St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Collins St corridor

  • Collins St trams have now resumed along their normal lines following the earlier disruption. Delays may occur as we restore normal frequency. 

Swanston St corridor

  • Route 1 trams in both directions are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St between Stop 22 Dorcas St and Stop 7 RMIT University
  • Route 3, 6, 64 & 67 trams in both directions are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St.
  • There are no trams on Swanston St between Stop 7 RMIT University, Franklin St and Stop 14 Arts Precinct.

Flinders St corridor

  • Route 70 and 75 trams are running in sections with no trams between Stop 4 Flinders St Station, Elizabeth St and Stop 6 Russell St

City Circle

  • No Route 30 & City Circle trams running
  • We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. 

Update 11.38am

Collins St corridor

  • Route 11 and 48 trams are running in sections with no trams between Stop 5 Elizabeth St and Stop 7 101 Collins St.
  • Route 12 and 109 are diverting via La Trobe St between Stop 124 Batman Park and Stop 12 St Vincent’s Plaza.

Swanston St corridor

  • Route 1 trams in both directions are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St between Stop 22 Dorcas St and Stop 7 RMIT University
  • Route 3, 6, 64 & 67 trams in both directions are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St.
  • There are no trams on Swanston St between Stop 7 RMIT University, Franklin St and Stop 14 Arts Precinct.

Bourke St corridor 

  • Route 86 and 96 trams in both directions are diverting via La Trobe St between Spencer St and Stop 11 Melbourne Museum
  • Shuttle trams are running between Stop 119 La Trobe St and Stop 4 Queen St
  • Shuttle trams are running between Stop 7 Russell St and Stop 10 Parliament Station

Flinders St corridor

  • Route 70 and 75 trams are running in sections with no trams between Stop 4 Flinders St Station, Elizabeth St and Stop 6 Russell St

City Circle

  • No Route 30 & City Circle trams running
  • We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. 

Update 11.17am

  • Route 1, 3, 6, 64 & 67 trams in both directions are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St.
  • Route 5, 16 & 72 running between Stop 14 Arts Precinct & south eastern suburbs.
  • No Route 30 & City Circle trams running
  • We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. 

Update 10.31am:

  • Route 1, 3, 6, 64 & 67 towards Melbourne University are diverting via Kings Way, William St & La Trobe St.
  • Route 5, 16 & 72 running between Stop 11 Collins St & south eastern suburbs.
  • No Route 30 & City Circle trams running
  • We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. 

Tram service changes:

We expect the following areas may be affected as the rally moves through the city:

  • Swanston Street
  • Bourke Street
  • Collins Street
  • Flinders Street
  • La Trobe Street 

If service changes do occur, we will keep you updated through tramTRACKER, Twitter, our website, and live announcements to trams and stops. Bus routes in the area may also be affected.

Alternative travel options:

We recommend using City Loop trains as an alternative. Please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.
