Monday 20 January to Sunday 2 February 2020

Special event services

Extra trams will be provided for the Australian Open at Melbourne Park from Monday 20 January to Sunday 2 February. Travel is free on Route 70 & 70a trams for Australian Open ticket holders.

Extra Route 70a trams will run between:

  • Stop D6 Flinders St West and Stop 7C MCG/Melbourne Arena
  • Stop 6 Russell St and Stop 7C MCG/Melbourne Arena

Route 70 runs as normal, servicing all stops between Wattle Park and Docklands.

City Circle trams will run in a clockwise direction only from first tram to midday each day. Trams will resume as normal in both directions from midday.

Trams run approximately every 5 minutes at busy times, until one hour after the completion of play, no matter what time the action ends (including twilight and night sessions).

Australian Open ticket holders can enter the tennis precinct directly from the tram platform stops at Rod Laver Arena and Melbourne Arena.

Accessible trams will run approximately every 10 minutes.

In addition to the extra trams, we'll provide additional customer service employees at all the major stops along the route to ensure tennis fans have all the information necessary to plan their travel and complete their trip in safety.

Event service times

Australian Open extra services will run from 8am, and until an hour after the end of play each night. Route 70 runs as normal.
