tramTRACKER now in train stations
Monday 16 November 2015
Yarra Trams is bringing real-time tramTRACKER information to train stations across Melbourne to assist passengers transferring from trains to trams.
The train station tramTRACKER screens are funded by Public Transport Victoria (PTV), to create better multi-modal connectivity, and delivered in collaboration with Metro.
A total of 67 train station tramTRACKER screens at 44 stations, displaying real-time tram arrival information, will be installed by Christmas 2015.
Train station tramTRACKER screens have been installed at stations where connecting trams are within a short walking distance, and will display direction and distance to the tram stops.
A two-week pilot at five train stations - Brunswick, Jewell, Jolimont, Prahran and South Yarra - commenced on 16 November 2015. The remainder of the tramTRACKER screens will be installed at 39 train stations during November and December.
Yarra Trams, in partnership with PTV and Metro, completed a trial of train station tramTRACKER screens at the exits of Flinders Street and South Yarra in July 2014.
About 1300 passengers were surveyed during the trial, with 96 per cent of respondents believing the solution was effective and 97 per cent supporting the initiative.
