All Aboard

The 2022 All Aboard rainbow tram

As the proud operators of the world's largest tram network, Yarra Trams values the representation of people from diverse LGBTI+ backgrounds, both in our People, and the Melbourne community we service.

All Aboard is a celebration of the LGBTI+ diversity of our People and of our Melbourne community.  It is a symbol of the inclusion we strive for at our workplace and on our trams across our network.  And All Aboard is our commitment to making sure everybody feels welcome on board a tram.

Yarra Trams Pride Alliance

The Yarra Trams Pride Alliance has a vision of a shared sense of community within Yarra Trams, where our LGBTI+ employees can express themselves fully and perform to their fullest potential.

This vision is guided by the following principles:

  • Respect for all
  • Understanding and awareness
  • Embracing a welcoming & safe environment
  • Celebrating LGBTI diversity

Purpose

The Yarra Trams Pride Alliance will build on our respectful, safe and inclusive workplace and support LGBTI+ employees to enjoy full participation at work.  To do so, we will build a culture which embraces our LGBTI+ community, and advocate for creating and maintaining an environment that allows individuals to perform to their fullest.

One of the Pride Alliance's key priorities is establishing best practice frameworks to support an inclusive workplace.

  • Provide education resources, tools and information sessions to increase awareness and encourage full participation.
  • Ensure our people practices are supportive of an inclusive workplace.

To that end, Yarra Trams has engaged LXRP to deliver LGBTIQA+ Cultural Safety in Public Transport training, and work is ongoing in delivering additional training for our frontline workforce.
