As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria are renewing tram infrastructure at the junction of Brunswick Road and Lygon Street.

Melbourne's tram network requires more services in the future. This renewal means power can be increased easily in the future for trams on Lygon Street.

The construction will improve the reliability of the tram network enabling:

  • Enhanced outcomes for the community by improving public transport services.
  • Greater capacity on the tram network.
  • Increased customer experience and service reliability by running a modern and high-capacity fleet.
  • A reliable service and consistent journey times.
