Track maintenance - Lygon Street, Brunswick East

11 November, 2016

As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria are repairing tram tracks on Lygon Street, Brunswick East, between Brunswick Road and Weston Street.

Major work

Major work will commence at 7:30pm on Tuesday 6 December 2016 and will continue until 5am Wednesday 7 December 2016.

Residents living on Lygon Street within the work zone will not have vehicle access to driveways during the work period. Residents are advised to park cars in nearby side streets to prevent any delays.

Tram passengers

Service changes apply on Route 1 & 8 trams on Tuesday 6 December from 7pm until last tram.

The work zone will be cordoned off for safety but footpaths will remain open to allow pedestrian access to businesses and residences within the work zone.

There will be a full closure of Lygon Street between Brunswick Road and Weston Street from 7:30pm on Tuesday 6 December until 5am on Wednesday 7 December 2016.
Detours will be in place with traffic diverted around the work zone.

Noise and dust

Noise and dust from machinery, vehicles and work crews is unavoidable but Yarra Trams will do all it can to keep this to a minimum. Please note that these works will occur during the evening, and noise levels can vary between high, moderate and low.

Supporting the community

Yarra Trams is working closely with Moreland City Council to minimise the impact of this project on the local community.

For any specific concerns regarding access to your business or property during the project, please call 1800 800 007 (6am-midnight).
