Errol, Queensberry and Victoria Street tram works - North Melbourne

19 August, 2016

As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria are renewing tram tracks and overhead wires on Errol Street in North Melbourne. To minimise further disruption, curved tram tracks at the intersections of Victoria and Queensberry Streets will also be replaced.

Tram tracks within the work-zones range between 20 and 80 years old and require renewing. The renewed track will deliver a better road surface for motorists, cyclists and tram passengers, produce less tram noise due to potholes, broken rails and wheel squealing, and will be quicker to repair in the future due to the use of new semi resilient materials.
