Civil works - Burke Road Terminus Deepdene, 2 to 4 November 2016

31 October, 2016

As part of the modernisation of Melbourne's tram network, Yarra Trams and Public Transport Victoria will be performing some civil works at the Burke Road Terminus in Deepdene (Stop 70 Cotham Road).

Timings

Works will commence on Wednesday 2 November and conclude on Friday 4 November 2016. Works will occur during the day.

What is planned?

To ensure Yarra Trams is able to maintain a safe and reliable tram network, minor civil works are required at the Burke Road Tram Terminus.

This will include the installation of a secure barrier planter box at the end of the terminus and other minor works.

Residents

Residents living on Burke Road adjacent to the work zone may experience some delays when entering or exiting driveways. Residents are advised to take caution when entering or exiting driveways due to machinery in the area. Please see a traffic controller if you have questions regarding entering or exiting your premises.

Tram passengers

Stop 70, Cotham Road, will remain open for passengers to board and alight during these works. There will be no changes to Route 72 services.

Motorists

Some lane closures will be in place from Wednesday 2 November until Friday 4 November 2016 between Cotham Road and Deepdene Place (around the terminus). Traffic controllers and motorist signage will be in place to guide motorists around the work zone..

Pedestrians

The works will take place within the tram reserve at the terminus. The work zone will be cordoned off for safety but footpaths will remain open to allow for normal pedestrian movements.

Noise and dust

Noise and dust from machinery, vehicles and work crews is unavoidable but Yarra Trams will do all it can to keep this to a minimum.

Please note that noise levels can vary between high, moderate and low. These works will be carried out during the day.

We thank you for your patience and regret any inconvenience caused by this essential work.

We advise that it is being performed in accordance with our obligations to Public Transport Victoria and is necessary to maintain a safe tram network as required by the Rail Safety Act 2006 (Vic).

Accordingly Yarra Trams will not be compensating third parties for any losses incurred during the conduct of the work.
