Nicolas Gindt - Chief Executive Officer

Nicolas Gindt

Nicolas is a seasoned leader in the transportation industry, having held senior positions in rail passenger and freight organisations for over 20 years. He has consistently delivered results in managerial leadership, operation, and customer experience.

As Chief Executive Officer of Yarra Trams, Nicolas is accountable for ensuring the ongoing sustainability of Melbourne's tram network and building a service that will continue to meet the growing needs of the most liveable city in the world.

Prior to his role with Yarra Trams, Nicolas has:

  • Been the leader of a 130M€, 1,000 employee company, managing B2B, leading tender negotiations, and delivering superior customer service
  • Led the relationship and contract with a public authority to together deliver new customer services
  • Represented SNCF, the national rail company with 180,000 employees in 130 countries, to form win-win agreements with employees
  • Been at the coal-face of leading technical and customer service aspects of the industry

Most recently, Nicolas has been Regional Manager for GEODIS Road, Ile-de-France. The company is one of the biggest players on European logistics market, with an annual turnover of 950M€. In his year with GEODIS, Nicolas reduced serious injuries by 40 per cent and improved revenue by 66 per cent.

As VFLI CEO, a SNCF subsidiary, with a workforce over 950, Nicolas delivered outstanding results in a poor economic market. Under his leadership, the company maintained a high level of service and safety, renewed the customer portfolio, and increased its profitability, while motivating its highly skilled employees with around two thirds of appointment resourced through internal promotions.

Between 2005 and 2009, Nicolas managed the day to day operations and significant upgrade of schedule in SNCF's Regional Trains of Champagne-Ardenne. Here, he also negotiated with the public authority the eight-year extension of the franchise agreement.

Before 2005, Nicolas held a range of positions in SNCF, including social advisor at the Paris headquarters and managing several business units including ticket inspectors, sales staff, and traffic operations teams.
